Abstract

This research has and aims to apply the Think Pair Share Cooperative Learning method to improve and mastery of fifth grade students in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects at SDN 7 Rajabasalama. The background of this study is based on the low particioation and understanding of students where out of 20 students, 13 have not met the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM). This study adopted a descriptive qualitatve approach with data collection methods inluding observation, and interview. The findings in the study indicate that the application of the TPS method significantly increases and active participation of students in the learning process that encourages critical thingking skills, as well as omproving their understanding of the PAI meterial being taught. Students their views, and are able to understand religious values better. This TPS method has proven to be an effective way for now as an alternative to active learning that is oriented towards students in the context of PAI at the elementary school level.
